Good Molecules sent me their Lightweight Daily Moisturizer to try. The first thing I noticed was the box. It’s really pretty, and I like the design.
The back has a little guide that tells you how to layer everything: cleanse, tone, treat, then this moisturizer as step four, then SPF. I like not having to guess where something goes.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you want a light, unscented daily moisturizer you can put makeup over right away
- Skip it if: you want a thick, rich cream. This one is light by design
- My favorite feature: It isn’t greasy at all. My fingers were clean after
- Would I buy again? Yes
What’s in the Good Molecules Lightweight Daily Moisturizer
It’s made with shea butter, avocado oil, and hyaluronic acid to hydrate, smooth, and soften skin. The brand calls it a lotion, and it’s fragrance-free, vegan, and cruelty-free.
The little cruelty-free bunny is right on the tube. I love seeing that without having to look it up.

Who should try the Good Molecules Lightweight Daily Moisturizer?
Anyone who wants a daytime moisturizer that stays light and doesn’t slow you down on a busy morning. If you already use the Good Molecules cleansing gel I’ve been washing with for months, this is the moisturizer step from the same brand.
If you like something a little richer, the JiYu NAD+ cream that absorbs like a lotion is the other face moisturizer I’ve tried. This one is the lighter of the two.

Putting it on over a hyaluronic acid serum
I’d just put on a hyaluronic acid serum and let it soak in, so this went on next. My skin was feeling a little tight before. I started with just a tiny bit this time instead of too much like I usually do, then added a little more for my forehead and my neck.
It glided on nicely and felt really good going on. No scent at all, which I love, because I don’t like anything super scented on my face. Afterward my skin felt hydrated instead of tight.
Two things I noticed right after
- Not greasy at all: I didn’t even feel like I had to go wash my fingers after applying it. The box says 97% noticed soothed skin, and it’s made to add hydration without feeling greasy, which matched what I felt.
- Ready for makeup: It absorbed fast enough that I could have started my makeup right away.
The parts I would tell a friend about
- It’s lightweight, which is what I want from a daytime moisturizer.
- It felt good going on and my skin felt good after.
Before you add it to your cart
- I’ve used it a few times, not every day for months. I can tell you how it feels and how it goes on, not how it holds up long term.
- It comes in a squeeze tube, not a pump.

Other daily moisturizers to compare
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel: An oil-free gel made for combination oily to oily skin, with hyaluronic acid and cucumber fruit extract. If your skin runs oily, this gel is the lighter-feeling cousin of the Good Molecules lotion.
- CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30: A morning lotion with broad-spectrum SPF 30 from zinc oxide, plus three ceramides and niacinamide. It rolls the moisturizer and sunscreen steps into one, where the Good Molecules lotion goes on before your SPF.
- La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer: A fragrance-free cream for face and neck with ceramide-3, niacinamide, and prebiotics, made for sensitive skin and barrier repair. It’s the pick if repairing your skin barrier matters more to you than a light daytime feel.
A few uses in, I really like it
