I won’t pretend I hit five full minutes every time. But a longer-than-usual massage with something minty that tingles a little, and my scalp felt better than it has in years. After weeks of it, it feels calmer and less reactive between washes. Whether that turns into anything on the hair itself is a question for months from now.

Anyone in their 40s or beyond who’s started counting hairs in the shower and wants to do something that doesn’t involve a prescription or a pill. It’s also for the oily-scalp crowd who want a clean wash without the stripped feeling that clarifying shampoos leave behind.
It’s a shampoo, so it’s working on the scalp. For the ends, I still reach for the hair serum I reviewed after drying. If your hair runs very dry, plan on a conditioner too.
How does the OELY biotin shampoo wash, weeks in?
The lather is wild for a sulfate-free formula. I filmed it on my head because I didn’t believe it. It suds up like a drugstore shampoo, cleans all the way through, and rinses out without leaving that squeaky, stripped feeling.
The mint hits the moment you open the bottle. It’s not subtle, but it’s fresh rather than medicinal, and it doesn’t hang around on your hair afterward. A pump goes further than I expected, which matters in a bottle this size.

How long before a biotin shampoo shows results?
Nobody can tell you from a few weeks of use, and I won’t. What I can say is that my scalp felt different within the first couple of washes. Judge that first and give the hair itself months.
Does a sulfate-free shampoo lather?
This one does, and it surprised me enough to film it. It suds up like a regular shampoo and rinses clean without the squeaky feeling.
Is it safe for color-treated hair?
Nothing on the box or listing says color-safe, so I won’t either. It’s sulfate-free, which is the ingredient most color-safe shampoos leave out, but I haven’t tested it on colored hair.
Can men use it?
Yes. It’s made for women and men, and there’s one bottle in my shower for everyone in the house.
Do I need a conditioner after it?

I went in skeptical and I’m still using it, which is the whole review in one line. If you want a shampoo that makes you slow down and pay attention to your scalp, this is an easy yes. If you want proof it grows hair, come back in a few months and I’ll tell you what I’ve got.
