DoubleFill’s 11×22 newspaper frames are a solid PVC body with a black mat that lifts out and a thin clear front sheet, and that sheet is the weak point. One of my three cracked while I was loading it. Buy them for the long narrow shape if what you’re framing can be reprinted.

DoubleFill sent me a set of three of these to try. They’re built for newspaper pages, so my first job was finding a newspaper page in this house that deserved framing. There wasn’t one, so I went looking for something else the right shape.

The frame body turned out better than I assumed a PVC frame would be. Solid molding, clean corners, a backboard that clamps down tight. The clear sheet in front is a different story.

Why an 11×22 frame is hard to find anywhere else

Standard frames stop at sizes built around a photograph. This one is built around the shape of a newspaper page, long and narrow, and once you start looking you find almost nothing else comes in that proportion. That shape is the entire reason to buy one.

The black mat is what makes it read as a frame instead of a panel. You can pull the mat out and fill the whole 14 by 24 opening if you want the picture bigger. I put mine back in. The border is what makes it look finished.

The sizes that actually matter here

• Quantity: 3 frames per set
• Inner frame size: 14 by 24 inches
• Mat opening: 10.5 by 21.5 inches
• Designed for: an 11 by 22 inch newspaper page
• Frame material: PVC
• Front panel: a thin clear sheet, not glass, with no UV rating given
• Mat color: black, and it lifts out if you want the full opening
• Orientation: vertical, horizontal, or standing on a tabletop
• In the box: metal hanging clips fitted into each back, plus a paper template with layout options

Who these suit and who should look elsewhere

Anyone with something that doesn’t fit a normal frame. A panoramic print, a magazine spread, a row of photos laid across the width, or one image deliberately sitting off to one side because the opening gives you room to do that. Getting three in a set means you can plan a group on a wall instead of buying one and hoping.

Look elsewhere if the thing you’re framing can’t be replaced. If protecting it matters more than showing it off, poster sleeves that store big pages flat are the safer answer. And if you want the picture with no border at all, the same brand’s floating acrylic frames hold a photo between two clear panels with nothing around it.

What I put in one and what happened

No newspaper, so I went digging and came back with my junior high class composite from 1992. It fit the opening exactly, which was a small thrill after 30 years of that thing living in a drawer. I set it on the mantel to look at it. None of the three ever made it onto a wall.

Then one of the clear panels cracked. I was loading a frame at the time, sliding the sheet back into place before closing the backboard, and it went. The sheet is thin and it flexes, and it doesn’t take pressure the way glass or a thicker acrylic would. Nothing about what I was doing felt rough at the time.

Three things I noticed getting them ready

• Protective film on both faces: it comes off in one long sheet, which is the good part, and there’s a second one on the underside that’s easy to miss. The film itself is printed with a reminder to do both sides.
• Metal turn clips all the way round: the backboard is held by a row of small clips rather than flimsy tabs, and it closes tight without any tools.
• A paper hanging template: the box includes a printed guide with layout options, which is the part you want when you’re putting three of them on one wall.

What the frame itself gets right

• The molding has no give in it. For PVC, that surprised me.
• Black frame against a black mat stays out of the way of whatever you put inside it.
• Three in one set means you can lay out a group properly instead of matching a second one later.

What to know before you order

• The clear panel is the fragile part. Mine cracked during loading. Go slow with it, support the whole sheet rather than a corner, and be careful closing the back.
• No UV rating. There’s nothing here protecting a page from fading, so this isn’t the frame for something you want to survive a sunny room.
• It’s PVC, not wood or metal. It looks clean from across a room and it won’t pass for a heirloom frame up close.
• I never hung one. All three stayed off the wall, so nothing here is a report on how the clips hold up over time.

Questions I had before I ordered

Three other 11×22 newspaper frames to compare

• Americanflat 11×22 Newspaper Frame is engineered wood rather than PVC, with a plexiglass front instead of a thin sheet. It’s sold one at a time, and its hardware hangs either direction.
• Fxojyvo 11×22 Newspaper Frame 4 Pack gives you four instead of three, and its listing states up front that the display opening runs half an inch small to hold the page steady. That’s the same tradeoff you get here, just spelled out before you buy.
• Solid Pine 11×22 Newspaper Frame is the archival one. Pine molding, a UV resistant and shatterproof acrylic front, and an acid free foam backing, aimed at a page you plan to keep rather than rotate.

Would I put another one on a wall

Yes, with a hand under the panel the whole time. The frame is good and the shape is genuinely hard to find, and those two things are why I’d go back to it.

If what you’re framing can be reprinted, these do the job. If it can’t, put it behind a cover built to protect it.
