This was sent to me to try. The MOOKA air purifier (model B-D02L) is a small, round purifier that fits on a little end table, stays quiet on every fan speed, and gives off a soft white noise hum. For a bedroom, it’s an easy yes. If you want phone control or you’re purifying an open floor plan, the options further down fit better.
My first reaction was good size, pretty quiet, and kind of a white noise experience too. Right now it’s sitting on a little end table. I don’t know if that’s where it’s going to stay, but that’s where it is.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you want a quiet purifier for one room, like a bedroom or office
- Skip it if: you want app control or whole-floor coverage
- My favorite feature: The night light turns off. I don’t want it on, so I switched it off and it runs dark.
- Would I buy again? Yes
How quiet is the MOOKA air purifier on high?
Quiet enough that on the low setting I wasn’t sure you’d hear it at all. When I turned it up, it got louder, but even on the highest setting it’s relatively quiet. MOOKA rates sleep mode at 20 dB.
The sound it does make is a steady hum. It’s a nice white noise if you like that for sleeping. If you need a silent room, know that the hum is there on every speed.

Who should get the MOOKA air purifier
It fits a bedroom, a home office, or any small room where you want cleaner air without a big machine in the corner. If you already sleep with a fan running for the sound, the hum will feel familiar. If you sleep in total dark, the light on top switches off.
It’s not the pick if you want to check your air quality on your phone or run one unit across an open floor plan. And if you do want a soft glow at bedtime, I’d leave the purifier dark and let a lamp handle it. On my nightstand, the Benson duck and my candle warmer lamp do that job.

Setting up the MOOKA: the cord is packed inside
On the bottom, you twist the base and it opens. The filter is right there. When you first get it, you have to open it up anyway, because there’s packaging to remove and the power cord is packed in there too.
Once it’s plugged in, you hit the power button on top and it starts running. That’s the whole setup.
The two buttons I use on the front panel
- Fan speed: One button steps from sleep up to high, and a light shows which speed it’s on.
- Timer: The 1, 2, 4, and 8 on the panel are hours. Pick one and it shuts itself off when the time’s up.
What I liked about living with it
- The filter is easy to access and replace, no tools or screws
- At 3.6 pounds, it’s light enough to carry to another room once I decide where it’s staying

What to know before you buy the MOOKA
- The night light is on by default. It glows blue through the top grille. If you don’t want it, which I don’t, hold the power button on top for 3 seconds while it’s running and the light goes off.
- There’s no app or Wi-Fi. Everything runs from the buttons on the unit, so you can’t change settings from your phone or across the house.
Common questions about the MOOKA air purifier
What size room is the MOOKA air purifier for?
A small room. MOOKA rates it at 6 air changes an hour in 215 square feet and 1 air change an hour in 1,076 square feet, so the bigger number means the air gets cycled once an hour. I’ve only run it in one room, so I can’t tell you how it does across a larger space.
How often do you change the MOOKA filter?
Every 3 to 6 months, according to MOOKA, depending on your air and how often you run it. Replacement filters are sold separately. The filters section on my free printable home maintenance schedule is a good spot to write the swap date down.
Where is the power cord on the MOOKA air purifier?
Inside the base, packed with the filter. Twist the bottom cover off, take out the cord, and pull the plastic bag off the new filter before you run it.
Does the MOOKA air purifier have a child lock?
Yes. MOOKA lists a child lock to keep kids or pets from changing the settings. I didn’t need it, so I haven’t tested it.
Other air purifiers to compare with the MOOKA
- Levoit Core 300S-P: The version with app and voice control. The listing says you can adjust settings from the VeSync app or ask Alexa or Google Assistant, and an auto mode senses PM2.5 and changes the fan speed for you.
- Coway Airmega AP-1512HH Mighty: Buttons only like the MOOKA, but with a pollution sensor. A colored light shows how clean your air is, auto mode adjusts the fan to match, and a filter indicator tells you when it’s time for a new one.
- Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max: The big-room pick. It’s about 23 inches tall and 16 pounds, built for living rooms and open floor plans, with 360-degree air intake and a washable fabric pre-filter.
Is the MOOKA air purifier a good pick for a bedroom?
Yes. It’s a small, quiet purifier that doesn’t take up a ton of space, and I’m happy with it.
The MOOKA B-D02L is a good fit if you want quiet, button-controlled air cleaning in one room, with a light you can turn off.
