I don’t recommend these if you have no self-control. I bought the Cheez-It Gluten Free crackers because I missed Cheez-Its, and I’ve been eating them like a feral animal ever since they showed up.
I haven’t had gluten in years, so finding out there’s a gluten-free version was a big deal for me. I think they’re delicious.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: You eat gluten-free and you’ve been missing a cheesy square cracker.
- Skip it if: You need dairy-free or soy-free snacks.
- My favorite feature: That a gluten-free Cheez-It exists at all.
- Would I buy again? Yes
What are gluten-free Cheez-Its made of?
The flour is a blend of rice, sorghum and degerminated yellow corn, and the cheese is real cheddar. That’s how they keep the classic little orange square without any wheat in it.

Who Cheez-It Gluten Free is for
Anyone who’s gone gluten-free and has been missing this exact snack. It’s also a treat swap that tastes like the real thing, the same way the I’MINT sugar-free coffee candy tastes just like coffee. If you’ve got kids who make snack time a game, a handful fits nicely in the MAX’IS mug with a basketball hoop on the rim.
What happened once the boxes arrived
This is about my third box. There are crumbs all over my floor, and my fingers are orange pretty much all the time now. I’ve lost all control, and I’m going to have to ration them soon.

How do they taste after years without gluten?
- The crunch is there: they snap the way a cheese cracker should.
- The flavor is there: salty and savory, with a texture I love all around.
What else I liked
- They look just like the original Cheez-Its to me
What to know before buying Cheez-It Gluten Free
- They’re hard to stop eating. Pour some into a bowl instead of grabbing the box.
- I heard from someone who isn’t gluten-free that they didn’t like them. This long without gluten, I can’t compare them to the regular ones anymore.
- They contain milk and soy, so they won’t work for a dairy-free or soy-free diet.
Common questions about Cheez-It Gluten Free crackers
What does the GFCO gluten-free certification mean?
GFCO is the Gluten-Free Certification Organization. Products with its seal have to test below 10 parts per million of gluten, or below the country’s own limit if that one is lower.
Do Cheez-It Gluten Free crackers have nuts in them?
There are no nuts in the ingredients, but the box warns they may contain almonds.
How many crackers are in a serving?
Thirty crackers make one serving, and a 9-ounce box holds about nine servings.
Do Cheez-It Gluten Free crackers have corn in them?
Yes. Corn shows up three times on the ingredient list: degerminated yellow corn in the flour blend, then cornstarch and modified corn starch. If corn is the problem, the Simple Mills Farmhouse Cheddar crackers below are made without it.
Are gluten-free Cheez-Its non-GMO?
No. They contain a bioengineered food ingredient, so they aren’t a non-GMO pick. If that matters to you, the Annie’s and Simple Mills crackers below are both Non-GMO Project Verified.
Other gluten-free cheese crackers to compare
- Simple Mills Farmhouse Cheddar Almond Flour Crackers: made with almond flour and real cheese, certified gluten-free and grain-free. They contain tree nuts, so skip them if almonds are a problem.
- Annie’s Gluten-Free Cheddar Crackers: real cheese crackers with no artificial flavors or synthetic colors, in a single 4-ounce box.
- Every Body Eat Cheese-Less Crackers: cheddar-style thins with no dairy at all, plus no soy and no nuts. They’re the pick if milk is what rules out the Cheez-Its.
If you’d rather stock up on gluten-free snacks in one order, Thrive Market has a Gluten-Free section you can shop.
Would I buy Cheez-It Gluten Free again?
Yes, and I’m still buying them. Rationing is the only plan I need.
