Seven pieces of dog gear earned a permanent spot in my three-rescue-dog house: the EQI treat container, the Smiry chenille door mat, the Bodhi shampoo brush, the Veehoo sofa bed, the Veehoo orthopedic bed, the Rubyloo travel bag, and the Nocciola slipper toys. The EQI treat container is my top pick, the Smiry mat is the runner-up, and both of those I bought twice with my own money. Every item here has its own full review on this site.

How I Tested All of This
Three rescue dogs live in this house: a 14-year-old senior who has strong opinions about baths, a 6.5-pound little girl who claims furniture, and a middle guy who joins whatever chaos is happening. Nothing here got a weekend trial and a verdict. The oldest items go back about nine months: the Veehoo bed is in daily use, and the Rubyloo bag has lived packed and ready that whole time. The toys are at seven months, the brush at three, and the treat container and door mat are the newest at several weeks each.
Five of the seven were sent to me for review: the brush, both beds, the travel bag, and the toys. The treat container and the door mat I bought myself, and I liked both enough to buy a second of each. That’s the split, and I’ll tell you below which window each verdict comes from.
The Picks
Best for treats: EQI Pet Treat Container
I bought this because I was living with a half-open treat bag on my counter and treats going stale within a week. The fix turned out to be a 2.8-quart clear container with a one-touch lid. Push down and a silicone ring seals it, push up and it pops open. One hand, which matters when three dogs are staring at you mid-training session.
The capacity surprised me. A full large bag of soft Blue Buffalo treats fit with room to spare, because the square shape uses space better than a round canister. Two weeks into the first bag the treats were still soft, and with the clip-sealed bag they used to dry out in half the time. The flat lid stacks, so a second container sits on top without wobbling.
I did buy a second one, for a different treat. When I spend my own money on the same product twice, it goes at the top of a list like this. The iPaw braided turkey sticks I reviewed live in one of them now.
What bugged me: it’s hand wash only, there’s no scoop at this size, and 2.8 quarts fills fast with anything bigger than treats or portioned kibble.
Get it if you want treats sealed, visible, and reachable one-handed. Skip it if you need bulk storage for a full bag of main food.

Best for muddy paws: Smiry Chenille Door Mat
Three dogs in and out all day destroys a doormat, and the words “machine washable” are what got me to click buy. The Smiry is a 30 x 20 inch chenille mat with a rubber backing, and the backing is the best part. On my tile floor it doesn’t slide, even with full foot-wiping pressure. I had to bend down and pick it up to move it.
The chenille loops trap dirt in the surface instead of smearing it around, and within a few days the floor behind the mat was visibly cleaner than before. I’ve washed it at least three times now, warm water every time even though the care advice says cold, and it comes out looking the same. The quick-dry fabric has it back at the door the same day. I ordered a second one for our other door before I’d even finished testing the first.
What bugged me: 30 inches feels tight for large breeds or a double door, it won’t handle seriously caked mud on its own, and the care tag says cold washes to protect the backing. Mine has survived three warm ones so far, but that’s me breaking the rule.
Get it if you want a soft, grippy, washable mat for daily dog traffic. Skip it if you have a big dog and a wide entryway, though Smiry makes sizes up to 70 x 24 inches.

Best for bath time: Bodhi Dog Shampoo Brush
My 14-year-old hates baths. He squirms, he protests, he drinks the bathwater out of spite. With this rubber brush he settled and let me finish the scrub, which no amount of hand-washing has managed in years. The soft rubber bristles feel like a massage to the dog while they work shampoo down to the skin.
It comes as a two-pack of 3.5 x 5.125 inch brushes in latex-free natural rubber, with an oval loop handle you can keep hold of with a wet hand. Lather builds faster than with fingers, loose fur collects on the brush instead of the drain, and cleanup is one tap over the trash can. It works dry between baths too.
For the record, all three dogs bolted into the yard afterward and rolled in the grass, so the clean lasted about four minutes. The brush did its part.
What bugged me: it’s a bath brush, not a deshedding tool. The bristles run short, so on a thick double-coated breed it won’t reach deep enough to replace something like a Furminator.
Get it if your dog fights baths or has sensitive skin. Skip it if you need serious undercoat removal on a heavy shedder.

Best bed: Veehoo Elevated Dog Sofa Bed
This looks like a tiny couch, and my smallest dog treated it like one from day one. It sits 5.9 inches off the floor on an elevated base, with a plush cushion and three-sided bolsters for a dog who likes to lean or curl while sleeping. The cover zips off and goes in the wash, which after nine months in a three-dog house isn’t optional.
The unplanned bonus: my senior dog uses it as a step stool to get himself onto the human bed. That wasn’t in the product description, but it’s now a load-bearing feature of this household.
It reads as furniture instead of a plastic pet bed, so it lives in the open instead of getting shoved in a corner.
What bugged me: there’s light assembly to strap the sofa onto the base, the bolsters do nothing for a dog who sprawls flat, and it’s genuinely small-dog sized, so a bigger dog will hang off the edges.
Get it if you have a small dog who curls up and you want a bed you don’t have to hide. Skip it if your dog is a flat-on-the-floor sprawler.

Best for senior dogs: Veehoo Orthopedic Dog Bed
We have two senior dogs, and this is the bed for them. The Grump climbed on the minute I set it down, like he knew it was his, and a few minutes later he was snoring. Franklin fits it perfectly too.
It’s 3 inches of high-density egg-crate foam, so an older dog gets more than a thin pad. The flannel cover is super soft with a ribbed plush texture, and it zips off over a waterproof liner that keeps the foam dry. I’ve washed the cover and it held up. The nonslip bottom stays put on our wood floor, even with a dog settling in.
The medium I have is 29 x 18 x 3 inches, for dogs up to 35 lbs, and it fits a standard 30-inch crate. It shows up rolled and bagged, so give it about 48 hours to fluff up before the dogs get it.
What bugged me: the medium I tested is out of stock, so the buy link goes to Veehoo’s current 28-inch bed. That one adds bolsters on three sides and tops out at 25 lbs.
Get it if you have an older dog who needs more than a thin pad, or a dog who sleeps in a crate. Skip it if your dog is on the big side for it, so check the size first.

Best for travel: Rubyloo The Original Doggy Bag
Before this bag, dog supplies traveled in whatever duffel was free, food leaked into leashes, and the poop bags hid at the bottom. The Rubyloo is a dedicated dog go-bag, about 15 x 12 x 7 inches in water-resistant Oxford fabric, and it comes stocked: two collapsible bowls with carabiners, two insulated leak-proof food containers, a removable divider, and a built-in poop bag dispenser.
The bag never unpacks. It stays stocked, so at home it works as the organizer. I know where all their stuff is because it’s still in the bag. We’ve brought it on short trips and it’s great, the pockets keep leashes, treats, and waste bags separated, and the padded shoulder strap matters once it’s loaded. It’s also the dogs’ ready-to-grab go-bag if we ever had to leave in a hurry, and it’s sized to pass as a carry-on if you fly. For the paperwork side of that go-bag, this free printable pet records sheet puts the vaccine dates, microchip number, and vet info on one page.
What bugged me: with three dogs on a longer trip, the food still packs separately. Treat it as the essentials bag and plan a second spot for the kibble.
Get it if you want one grab-and-go bag living by the door. Skip it if you have one small dog and a tote already works fine.

Best cheap one: Nocciola Slipper Dog Toys
Ten soft slipper-shaped toys with crinkle material and squeakers, plus a storage bag. My 6.5-pound dog was into them the second the first one came out, and seven months later the rotation trick still works: put a few away, bring them back out, and they’re new again.
Seven months in, none of the ten have been destroyed, and in this house a plush toy lasting that long is rare. They go in the washing machine, which plush toys in a three-dog house need regularly, and some designs have little treat pockets for a sniff-and-find game. These are soft toys for gentle to moderate play, and on those terms they’ve more than held up.
What bugged me: a big dog would find them small, and the squeakers wear on human ears long before the dogs lose interest.
Get it if you have small to medium dogs and want a cheap pile of toys to rotate. Skip it if your dog is a heavy chewer, because soft plush isn’t built for demolition work.

FAQ
Is this dog gear good for small dogs?
Yes, all seven work for small dogs, and two are small-dog specialists. The Veehoo sofa bed is sized for small dogs, and the Nocciola toys fit a 6.5-pound dog perfectly. The treat container, mat, brush, and travel bag don’t care what size your dog is.
Which of these are machine washable?
Four of them: the Smiry mat washes whole and dries the same day, the Nocciola toys go in the machine, and both Veehoo beds have zip-off covers that wash. With three dogs, washability decided half this list.
What’s the best gear here for a senior dog?
The Veehoo orthopedic bed, the Bodhi brush and the Veehoo sofa bed. The orthopedic bed has 3 inches of egg-crate foam, the brush calmed my 14-year-old bath hater enough to finish a full scrub, and he uses the sofa bed’s 5.9-inch base as a step onto the human bed.
Did you buy these or were they sent to you?
Five were sent for review: the brush, both beds, the travel bag, and the toys. The treat container and door mat I bought myself, then bought again. Sent or bought, everything here survived months with three rescue dogs before making this list.
Are the slipper toys safe for heavy chewers?
No. They’re soft plush toys for gentle to moderate play. None of mine have been destroyed in seven months, but my dogs aren’t shredders. For a heavy chewer, look at something built for it, like the Outward Hound Tough Skinz line I compare in the full toy review.
If you only take one thing from this list, take the EQI treat container, and if your floors take a beating, add the Smiry mat. Those are the two I paid for twice.
