The EQI 2.8 QT pet treat container keeps soft treats fresh because the one-touch lid presses a silicone ring into a real seal, and one push pops it back open one-handed. A full large bag of soft log-style treats fits inside. It’s the right size for treats, supplements, or portioned kibble, not a whole bag of main food. I bought a second one.
I had been leaving treat bags half-sealed on the counter, telling myself I’d deal with it later. The treats were drying out. The counter looked like a pet supply explosion. So I ordered this.
I washed it, let it dry, and dumped in the whole big bag of Blue Buffalo pork and chicken treats before I even put it away. The whole thing fit. Three rescue dogs go through a lot of treats and I needed something that actually kept them fresh. Here’s what I found.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you want a compact airtight spot for treats, supplements, or small kibble portions that looks better than a crinkled bag on the counter
- Skip it if: you need to store a large bag of main kibble since 2.8 QT fills up fast and this isn’t built for bulk
- My favorite feature: the one-touch lid. One push down seals it, one push up pops it open. I do it one-handed now without thinking about it.
- Would I buy again? Yes, and already bought another
Why This Pet Treat Container Is Different from a Regular Food Canister
Most pet treat containers either twist shut or have a lid you pry off. Both require two hands and if you’re in the middle of a training session with three dogs all staring at you, that’s annoying. The one-touch mechanism on this one is a genuine improvement. Push down to lock, push up to open. The sealing ring is tighter than I expected at this price. You can feel it catch when the lid locks, and it clicked shut in a way that made me test it twice just to confirm it was actually sealed.
EQI 2.8 QT One-Touch Lid Pet Treat Container
A compact clear airtight canister with a patented one-touch lid and silicone sealing ring. Fits a full large bag of soft treats, stacks flat, and opens one-handed. Best for treat and supplement storage, not bulk kibble.

What Size Is the EQI Pet Treat Container Good For?
This is the right size for treats, supplements, and daily portion kibble, not for storing a full bag of main food. A whole large bag of soft log-style treats like Blue Buffalo fits with room to spare, which surprised me given the compact footprint. If you have multiple dogs and go through treats fast, or if you want to stack a few containers with different treats or supplements, the flat lid means they sit stable on top of each other without wobbling. If you’re looking for something bigger for main kibble storage, you’ll want to size up.
It’s the top pick on my list of favorite dog gear.
Does a Full Bag of Dog Treats Fit in 2.8 QT?
I washed it first, let it dry, and dumped in the whole bag of Blue Buffalo soft treats. The square shape uses space more efficiently than a round canister so it holds more than it looks like it should. I sealed it and left it. Two weeks in, the treats are still soft and I’m still working through the same bag. Before this I was keeping the same treats in a clip-sealed bag and losing the softness within a week. The difference was noticeable.
Features That Made a Difference
- One-touch lid you can use one-handed: Push down to lock, push up to open. During a training session with three dogs all waiting, not having to fumble with a twist lid or pry off a top is a real quality of life upgrade.
- Silicone sealing ring you can feel catch: It’s not a loose press-fit. There’s a ring inside that creates a real seal when you push down. You feel and hear it lock, which matters for keeping moisture and air out of soft treats.
- Clear body with no labels blocking the view: I can see exactly how many treats are left without opening it. Useful mid-training when I don’t want to pop the lid just to check the level.
- Square footprint that stacks cleanly: Round containers roll and tip. The square base sits flat and the flat lid means a second container stacks on top without wobble, which is helpful when counter space is limited.
Pros
- One-touch lid opens and seals one-handed with no twisting or prying
- Airtight seal kept soft treats fresh noticeably longer than a clip-sealed bag
- Fits a full large bag of soft log-style treats despite the compact size
- Clear body shows fill level at a glance
- Stackable flat lid keeps counter or pantry tidy
- Doesn’t feel flimsy or cheap for the price
Cons
- Not dishwasher safe, hand wash only
- No scoop included at this size
- 2.8 QT fills quickly with anything larger than treats or small kibble
Common Questions About the EQI Pet Treat Container
Is the one-touch lid actually airtight?
Yes. There’s a silicone sealing ring inside the lid that locks out air and moisture when you press it down. Soft treats have stayed fresh in mine for over two weeks and counting, which was a clear improvement over a clip-sealed bag.
How much can the 2.8 QT hold?
More than the footprint suggests. A full large bag of soft log-style treats fit with room to spare. The square shape is more efficient than a round canister at the same size.
Can you stack these without the lid popping open?
Yes. The flat lid supports stacking and the one-touch lock keeps the seal secure under the weight of another container.
Is it dishwasher safe?
No, hand wash only. The wide opening makes it easy to clean by hand though.
Does it come with a scoop?
No, not at this size. A scoop is included with the larger 4.22 QT version. You’ll need to grab one separately if you want it.
How Does It Compare to Iris USA and OXO?
| Container | Lid type | Scoop | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| EQI 2.8 QT | One-touch press, silicone ring | No | Treats, supplements, portioned kibble on a small counter |
| Iris USA Airtight | Flip latch | Yes | Bulk storage of a full bag of main kibble |
| OXO Good Grips | Push button | No | A larger push-button canister, if you have the space |
The Iris USA is the one to get if you’re storing main food rather than treats, and the included scoop saves you buying one. The OXO has a similar push-button lid and runs larger. If counter space is tight and you only need treat storage, it’s more container than you need.
My Take After Using It Daily with Three Dogs
I bought this to stop living with a half-open treat bag on my counter. It solved that completely. The treats stay soft, the lid works exactly as described, and reaching in one-handed mid-training session without fumbling is the kind of small thing that makes daily life easier. I’m already planning to get a second one for a different kind of treat.

The EQI 2.8 QT pet treat container is the one to buy if you want treats sealed, visible, and reachable one-handed on a small counter. It’s not the one to buy if you’re storing a full bag of main kibble. Two weeks in, my treats are still soft and I bought a second container.
