MANSCAPED sent me the Dome Shaver PRO to try, and it went straight to my husband Mike. His old dome shaver had been giving him little nicks on his head, so he was ready for a replacement.
He was thrilled with it from day one, and it’s the one he uses now.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: Someone in your house keeps his head bald and wants less fuss doing it.
- Skip it if: You want the glass-smooth finish of a blade razor.
- My favorite feature: A three-way tie: zero learning curve, a two-second cleanout, and a case nice enough to gift.
- Would I buy again? Yes
What makes the Dome Shaver PRO different from a face shaver?
Five round stainless steel blade heads float on their own, so each one follows the bumps and curves of a scalp instead of riding over them. The blade pad is curved too, and you can hold it by the handle or palm the blade pad in your hand.

Who should get the MANSCAPED Dome Shaver PRO?
Anyone who goes bald on purpose and is tired of fighting an older shaver. It also makes a good gift for the bald guy in your life. The box is sturdy and packaged beautifully, which is fun for a present. If he’s the type who likes his gear, the HAPPY NUTS anti-chafe stick Mike keeps in our garage gym pairs well with it. Shopping for a basketball fan too? The MAX’IS mug with a little hoop on the rim is another easy one to get right.
How Mike did on his first shave with it
He didn’t have to get used to anything. He just went right to it, all around his whole head, down his neck, and across the front and underneath, and he barely looked in the mirror.
It’s waterproof, so he could shave in the shower, but he likes to do it before he gets in.

How do you clean and store the Dome Shaver PRO?
- The blade pad comes off: it separates from the hair chamber, you shake the clippings out, and the magnets snap it back together.
- Everything goes back in the case: the shaver and its cap sit in a molded spot, and Mike’s reaction was “Oh my gosh, this travel case is so nice.”

What else we liked
- It charges by USB-C, so there are no batteries to deal with
- A protective cover sits over the blade heads when it’s put away
- The whole thing feels like quality the second you take it out
What to know before you buy the Dome Shaver PRO
- It works best on short hair. If his head has grown out, trim it down first so the shaver glides instead of tugging.
- It shaves close, but not as close as a blade razor.
- When I checked MANSCAPED’s site, I didn’t see the blade pad sold on its own, so look before you count on swapping in a new one.
Common questions about the MANSCAPED Dome Shaver PRO
How do you charge the MANSCAPED Dome Shaver PRO?
Plug it into any USB-C port, or set the back of it on a wireless charging pad. A full charge on the cable takes about two hours, and it runs up to 90 minutes once it’s full.
How often should you shave your head with it?
My husband goes about three or four days between shaves. How often you need to depends on how fast your hair grows back and how smooth you like your head.
Can you use the Dome Shaver PRO on your face?
You can, but it’s shaped for a scalp. For a beard or detail work around the face, a face shaver or a beard trimmer gives you more control.
Does it have a travel lock?
Yes. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds to lock it so it can’t switch on in a bag, and hold it again for 3 seconds to turn the lock off.
Other head shavers to compare
- Remington Balder Pro XR7000 Head Shaver: five dual-track rotary blades with a built-in hair chamber, waterproof for wet or dry use, and up to 50 minutes of runtime, per Remington.
- Freebird FlexSeries Head and Body Shaver: a five-blade rotary head plus a clipper with guards, a nose and ear trimmer, and other attachments, so the trim-first step is built into the kit.
- Philips Norelco Head Shaver Pro 9000: a head that rotates 360 degrees and a sensor that adjusts power to hair density. It runs 90 minutes on a 1-hour charge and has a 5-minute quick charge for one shave.
Would I buy the Dome Shaver PRO for Mike again?
Yes. It’s his shaver now, and the nicks are gone.
