ProBliva antifungal shampoo was sent to me to try. I opened the bottle braced for a medicine smell and got something fresh and minty instead. I like everything about it.
Yes, the first test was a sniff test. I have priorities.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you’d like a treatment shampoo you won’t dread using
- Skip it if: you want a daily shampoo
- My favorite feature: how soothing the tea tree feels while it’s on
- Would I buy again? Yes
What’s in ProBliva antifungal shampoo?
It has two active ingredients. Zinc pyrithione 1% is the antifungal one, and salicylic acid 2% goes after buildup. Tea tree, peppermint and rosemary oils round it out, and two of those three explain what my nose picked up.
It’s made for dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis and folliculitis. I got about halfway through seborrheic before my mouth gave up, so I’m glad this is in writing.

Who is ProBliva antifungal shampoo for?
It fits someone whose scalp acts up in rounds and who wants a bottle to reach for when it does. Two other scalp shampoos I’ve tried are the Wild Naturals eczema shampoo and the RoyceDerm coal tar shampoo.
I used this one for irritation. I can’t speak to psoriasis or folliculitis, and skin in rough shape is a question for a doctor.

How does ProBliva feel on your scalp and hair?
I love the way tea tree oil feels on my scalp, and this has plenty of it. It’s soothing while it’s on.
I worry about any shampoo with a job to do. Sometimes the scalp gets what it needs and the hair pays for it. I follow this with a good conditioner and my hair feels fine afterward.

How does it smell, pour and lather?
- Scent: just as nice in the shower as it was on the first sniff.
- Texture: it looks and pours like a normal shampoo.
- Lather: a little, not a lot. It still feels nice going on.
What I like about ProBliva
- It works as a part-time shampoo. I use it when I need it and go back to my regular one after.
- There’s a little bunny on the box. Love to see it.
What to know before you order
I don’t have a complaint, so here’s what I can’t tell you.
- I didn’t count flakes or time anything, so I have no numbers on results.
- If peppermint isn’t your thing, you’ll notice it here.
ProBliva shampoo questions, answered
How often should you use ProBliva antifungal shampoo?
The label says at least twice a week, or as your doctor tells you.
Can you use ProBliva antifungal shampoo every day?
I don’t. I use it when things flare up and go back to my regular shampoo after. The label’s direction is at least twice a week, or whatever your doctor says.
Does ProBliva shampoo dry out your hair?
Mine felt fine, but I always follow it with a good conditioner. I can’t say how it would go without one.
Does ProBliva shampoo have parabens or dyes?
No. It’s paraben free and dye free, with no artificial color.
Other medicated dandruff shampoos to compare
- Nizoral A-D Anti-Dandruff Shampoo 2 Pack: Ketoconazole 1% is the active ingredient, and it’s used twice a week between regular washes. You get two 7 fl oz bottles.
- Selsun Blue Medicated Antidandruff Shampoo: Made with 1% selenium sulfide and cooling menthol in an 11 fl oz bottle, without SLS or parabens.
- Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo: A 3% salicylic acid formula for flakes and scalp buildup, with no added color, preservatives or fragrance. The bottle is 4.5 fl oz.
My take on ProBliva antifungal shampoo
ProBliva is a medicated shampoo I’d buy again. It smells like mint instead of medicine, it’s gentle when things flare up, and it fits a part-time rotation with a conditioner after. I didn’t measure flakes, so I can’t promise results there. It’s staying in my lineup.
