The tarte tartelette tubing mascara made my lashes look longer and fuller at 48, with no spider legs. I’d been wanting to try it for a while, but every time I’d watched someone put it on, she was a lot younger than me. So I crossed my fingers going in.
tarte sent me this mascara to try.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: length usually leaves your lashes thin and scraggly
- Skip it if: you need a tested answer on lower lashes, since I only did the top
- My favorite feature: Fullness that came along with the length
- Would I buy again? Yes
Why my lashes didn’t end up looking like spider legs
When I try to make my lashes longer, they can turn into spider legs. Long and scraggly. I’ve noticed it more as I’ve gotten older.
This one didn’t just lengthen them. It gave them volume too, and that fullness is what kept the extra length from looking stringy.

Who this tubing mascara is for
It’s for you if longer lashes tend to look thin on you, and you want them to look full, too.
If you’re shopping for beauty products at my age too, my review of the JiYu toning polish pads covers a toner that didn’t sting my almost-48 skin.
Putting it on over my smolderEYES look
I put it on right after the tarte smolderEYES shadow liner, and I needed the mirror for this part. Of course I flung some up onto my upper eyelid.
I have a gap in my eyelashes, so I paid attention to the before and after. The difference showed. I can tell, that’s for sure. I only put it on my top lashes.

The wand and how it went on
- The wand: Nothing too unique to look at. It still made a real difference on my lashes.
- Going on: Easy to apply, without a ton of clumping or skipping.

What I liked
- Vegan and cruelty-free
- Made without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan or gluten
What to know before you order
- I tried one application on my top lashes, and it held up all day. It stayed on so well that it took a little soaking to get off. I followed the instructions to take off tubing mascara after realizing it was a bit more of a challenge.
