Veehoo sent us this orthopedic dog bed to try, and I put it in front of two senior dogs who have strong opinions about where they sleep. As soon as I set it down, the Grump was on it. He knew it was for him.
A few minutes later, he was snoring.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you want an orthopedic bed with a washable cover for an older dog or a crate
- Skip it if: your dog is on the big side for it, so check the size first
- My favorite feature: the soft cover, the nonslip bottom and a senior dog who claimed it right away all tie
- Would I buy again? We love this bed
Egg-crate foam under a super soft cover
The medium bed I tested has a flannel cover that zips off, a waterproof inner liner, and an egg-crate foam mattress underneath. It’s an orthopedic bed, which is great for our two seniors.

Veehoo Orthopedic Dog Bed
The flat medium bed I tested is out of stock, so the button goes to Veehoo’s current 28-inch bed. It has bolsters on three sides, egg-crate foam, a waterproof liner and a nonslip bottom, for dogs up to 25 lbs.

- Foam: 3-inch high-density egg-crate foam
- Cover: flannel, removable, with a concealed zipper
- Liner: waterproof inner layer that keeps the foam dry
- Bottom: nonslip
- Veehoo’s current 28-inch bed: bolsters on three sides, corduroy cover with a faux fur lining, egg-crate foam, waterproof liner, for dogs up to 25 lbs

Who the Veehoo dog bed is for
It’s for an older dog who needs more than a thin pad, or a dog who sleeps in a crate.
For the same seniors, I also like the iPaw turkey treats because they’re soft enough to chew. The rest of what stuck with our three dogs is in my dog gear roundup.
How the Grump reviewed it
It showed up rolled and bagged, and I let it sit out about 48 hours to fluff up. When I set it down, the Grump sniffed it a little. It didn’t take him long to figure out it’s a comfy bed, and then it was nap time.
It’s also the perfect size for Franklin. Bits popped up like a meerkat to see what was going on.
What I noticed out of the box
- The cover: super soft, with a ribbed plush texture.
- The mattress: egg-crate foam that looks so comfortable.
- The bottom: it really doesn’t slip, even with a dog settling in on a wood floor.
What I liked about the Veehoo bed
- The cover came through the wash just fine
Before you order a dog bed this size
- Check the size. The medium I tested is for dogs up to 35 lbs, and the 28-inch bed the button goes to is for dogs up to 25 lbs. Veehoo suggests going one size up if you’re unsure.
