iPaw sent me their Air-Dried Turkey Training Treats after one of my dogs had a lot of teeth removed. We’d tried some of their other treats, but I was iffy about giving her the bigger, chewier ones. These are soft little squares, and she chewed hers right away. All three of my senior dogs went for them, so we’re keeping them.
She’s not toothless, for the record. She’s just short a few. Watching her take a treat without working at it was a relief. Pretty sure I’m the only one worried about this.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you want a soft, small treat for a senior dog, a small dog, or a dog missing some teeth
- Skip it if: your dog can’t have chicken, since this turkey recipe includes chicken heart and chicken fat
- My favorite feature: how easy they are to chew
- Would I keep them around? Yes

What’s in iPaw air-dried turkey training treats?
Real meat and organ meat lead the ingredient list, with pea protein and tapioca starch behind them. There are no grains, no gluten, and no artificial preservatives.
They’re air-dried at 70 to 80°C, which is how they stay soft instead of going hard like jerky. iPaw makes them in an SQF-certified facility, a food safety program recognized by GFSI. The olive oil is there for omega-9s, and the bag says it enhances coat shine.

Which dogs are these soft treats good for?
Senior dogs and small dogs, especially one who’s lost some teeth. That was the whole reason iPaw suggested these over their chewier treats, and it worked for my girl, who weighs 6.5 pounds.
They also suit anyone who hands out a lot of treats. I love little treats like this because you can give them a lot more often, especially during training. If you do, a sealed treat container with a one-touch lid keeps them handy. The rest of the gear that’s lasted with my three rescue dogs is in my dog gear roundup.
How my three senior dogs reacted to iPaw turkey treats
I opened the bag while trying not to wake everybody up before it was time. That didn’t last. They know exactly what that bag sound means.
My little girl got the first one and was chewing it right away. My oldest took a second to figure out what was happening. His reaction time has been better, but once he caught on, he was in. By the end she was frantic for more, so everybody got one more. And then another.
How big are the pieces, and can you cut them?
- Little chips: each square is a single bite for a small dog, so there’s nothing to break up.
- You can cut them: the bag says so. I didn’t see the need, even for a 6.5-pound dog.
- They work as a topper: the listing suggests breaking them into small pieces over a meal. I’ve only used them as treats.
What I liked
- They smell delicious to dogs and not so much to humans, which is the right way around
- No negotiating or softening them up first. They went straight from my hand to her mouth.
What to know before you order
- It’s called a turkey recipe, but it also has chicken heart, chicken fat, and duck liver. Read the full ingredient list if your dog has a protein allergy.
