My Red Tea sent me their organic rooibos to try, and it showed up right as there was a chill in the air. I’m so excited for tea season. I drink hot tea all year round, but it’s cozier when it’s chilly out.
My take: a smooth, light cup with no bitterness and a pretty red color. It’s in my tea rotation now, and I reach for it now and then.

Organic rooibos with a badge I hadn’t seen
I like this kind of tea, so I was excited to try this brand. The box carries USDA Organic and Ecocert seals, says naturally caffeine-free, and has a 100% Farmer Friendly badge. I hadn’t seen that last one before, that I know of. The rooibos is single origin, from the Cederberg Mountains in South Africa.
I also learned I’ve been saying it wrong. I was calling it rooibos the way it looks, and I think it’s “roy-e-bos.” I don’t know. I’ve reached an age where I can’t say things.

It’s for you if you want hot tea without caffeine, or you like a gentle cup more than a bold one. If you’re building a caffeine-free shelf, it sits well next to the ENZO Crimson Harvest berry tea and the Hiihone lemon balm tea I tried. Since it’s caffeine-free, it also works as the cup of something warm in an evening wind-down routine.
How does My Red Tea rooibos taste?
It smells good. My first sip got a “Yum, that’s good.” The flavor is light and gentle, with no bitterness. It’s smooth, and it feels nice to drink on a cooler day.
All it took was boiling water, a tea bag and a teacup. After 3 or 4 minutes, it turned a pretty red color.
Little things I noticed
- The tag has a message: mine said, “May you pick up your tea when it’s exactly the right temperature, and may you happen to glance out the window when the light is just how you like it.” Cute.
