The words “magnesium matrix” on the label had me intrigued before I’d even opened the box. Several forms of magnesium in one capsule instead of one, and an ingredient list I actually liked reading. I’d already tried this brand’s berberine and kept it in my routine, so when Olenphogy sent the magnesium over to try, I wanted to see if the formula held up the same way.
One thing to know about where I am with it. I’m still at one capsule at dinner, working my way up to the full three. So this is a review of the formula, the label, and how it has sat with me so far, not a before-and-after story about my sleep.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: You want a multi-form magnesium with no magnesium oxide, and you like being able to start at one capsule and work up.
- Skip it if: You already take a B-complex or a multivitamin heavy on B6, or you want a single-form glycinate and nothing else.
- My favorite feature: Five magnesium forms in one bottle and not one of them is oxide. The label lists elemental magnesium, which is the number that actually matters.
- Would I buy again? Yes
Why five forms of magnesium instead of one?
A lot of bottles on the shelf are magnesium oxide. It’s the cheap form, it’s the one most likely to upset your stomach, and it isn’t in here at all. Olenphogy builds this one around magnesium bisglycinate, then adds malate, taurate, orotate, and citrate. Each form is bound to something different, and the label pitches them for different jobs: glycinate for sleep and calm, malate for muscle comfort, taurate and orotate for heart support.
I’m not going to tell you what each form did for me, because I’m still ramping up. What I can tell you is why the matrix caught my eye. If you’ve taken a basic magnesium and felt nothing, the form is the first thing to question, and this bottle answers that question five different ways.

Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro Bisglycinate Complex
400mg of elemental magnesium per three-capsule serving across five chelated and organic forms, with active B6 as P5P, zinc picolinate, and black pepper extract. 90 veggie capsules, no magnesium oxide, and the label allows one to three capsules a day.
What’s in each serving of Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro
- Elemental magnesium per serving: 400mg
- Total magnesium matrix per serving: 2,490mg
- Magnesium forms: Bisglycinate, malate, taurate, orotate, citrate
- Added nutrients: Vitamin B6 as P5P, zinc as zinc picolinate
- Absorption support: Black pepper extract
- Serving size: 3 capsules, with a meal. Label allows 1 to 3 a day.
- Count: 90 veggie capsules, 30 full servings
- Label claims: Vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, third-party tested, made in a cGMP facility

Who is Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro best for?
If you’ve tried a basic magnesium and felt nothing, this is the kind of bottle to try next. It’s also a good fit if supplements tend to bother you and you want to ease in. The label allows one to three capsules a day, so you can start low the way I did and see how your stomach feels before you commit to a full serving.
If swallowing three capsules isn’t your thing, you have options. The melatonin-free sleep gummies with magnesium I reviewed are the chewable route, and the drink mix in the comparison section below is another.
How it’s gone since I opened the bottle
I’ve taken magnesium glycinate at night for a while, so the habit wasn’t new. The formula was. I started with one capsule at dinner instead of the full three, which is how I handle anything new, and I’ve had no reaction of any kind. No stomach trouble, no aftertaste, and no smell when I opened the bottle, which isn’t a given with supplements.
The bottle was filled to the top. That sounds like nothing until you’ve opened enough half-empty bottles padded with cotton to appreciate it. There’s a folded pamphlet inside explaining what each ingredient is for, and I read the whole thing. I’m a label reader, and the more a brand explains what they put in and why, the more comfortable I am swallowing it.

Four label details I kept coming back to
- Active B6 as P5P: Many magnesium supplements that add B6 use plain pyridoxine, which your body has to convert first. P5P is the already-active form, so there’s no conversion step.
- Zinc picolinate: Same idea as the magnesium forms. Picolinate is one of the better-absorbed zinc forms, so they didn’t cut corners on the supporting mineral either.
- Black pepper extract: A small addition that’s there to help you absorb the rest. It tells me the brand is thinking about what you actually take in, not just what fits in the capsule.
- Elemental magnesium on the label: The label says 400mg of elemental magnesium, not 2,490mg of magnesium complex. Those are different numbers, and elemental is the one you dose by. Not every brand lists it.
What I liked about Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro
- Five magnesium forms in one serving and no oxide anywhere on the label
- No stomach trouble starting at one capsule
- Flexible one-to-three capsule dosing printed right on the label
- Bottle full to the top, no cotton, no wasted air
- The pamphlet inside actually explains the formula instead of just selling it
Is the B6 in Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro a problem?
- Watch your total B6. The P5P in here is the active, well-absorbed form, so if you also take a B-complex or a multivitamin with B6, add up what you’re getting from everything before you stack this on top.
- A full serving is three capsules. The label lets you take fewer, but if you want the 400mg, that’s three.
- I haven’t reached the full serving yet, so I can’t tell you how it compares to my usual glycinate on sleep. I’ll update this post when I can.
Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro questions answered
How much elemental magnesium is in each serving?
400mg of elemental magnesium per three-capsule serving. The label also lists a 2,490mg total magnesium matrix, but elemental is the number you dose by, and it’s the one this label puts front and center.
Is magnesium bisglycinate the same as magnesium glycinate?
For practical purposes, yes. Bisglycinate means the magnesium is bound to two glycine molecules, which is how glycinate is normally made. Brands use the two names interchangeably.
Can I start with fewer than three capsules?
Yes. The label allows one to three capsules a day, and that’s exactly how I’m using it. I started with one at dinner and I’m working up.
When should I take Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro?
The label says to take it with a meal. I take mine at dinner, since the glycinate and taurate are the forms the label ties to sleep and calm. If muscle recovery is your reason, you could split the dose between two meals.
Is the B6 in this supplement a concern?
Only if you’re already getting B6 from other supplements. The P5P here is the active form, so it counts fully toward your daily total. Add up what’s in your B-complex or multivitamin before you add this on top.
Other magnesium supplements to compare
- Nature Made Magnesium Glycinate 200 mg: The single-form route from a drugstore brand. The listing says 200mg per two-capsule serving, bisglycinate only, 60 capsules, and nothing else added. Pick it if you only want glycinate and don’t need the B6, zinc, or the other four forms.
- Life Extension Neuro-Mag Magnesium L-Threonate: A different form entirely. The listing says it uses the patented Magtein form of magnesium L-threonate, three capsules a day, 150 capsules per bottle, and pitches it for memory and cognition rather than sleep or muscles.
- Natural Vitality Calm Magnesium Powder: The no-capsule option. The listing says it’s a fizzy drink mix that makes magnesium citrate in water, 325mg per serving, and you start at half a teaspoon and work up to two. For anyone who’d rather sip than swallow.
My take on Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro so far
I trusted this brand coming in because of the berberine, and the magnesium hasn’t given me a reason to change my mind. Five forms, no oxide, the active B6, zinc picolinate, and a label that lists elemental magnesium. Those are choices a brand makes on purpose. The full bottle and the pamphlet are small things, but they add up to the same impression.
I’m still at one capsule at dinner and working up. If you want a multi-form magnesium and you like being able to ease in, Olenphogy Magnesium-8 Pro is an easy pick. If you’re already stacking B6 from other bottles, do the math first.
