I’ve tested 72 products for this blog. Eight of them I still reach for every week without thinking about it. The LUKETURE clamp-on desk organizer is the one I use most, to the point where I said yes to a second one for the same desk. The Smiry chenille door mat is a close second, and it earns it three dogs at a time.
Testing something once tells you if it works out of the box. It doesn’t tell you if you’ll keep using it. This list is the second thing. One item per zone of my house, plus the pair I’d skip at the end.

How Did I Pick These Eight?
Everything here has its own full review on this site, and I tested each one in my actual house before writing about it. Some I bought. Most arrived through the brands due to the Amazon Influencer program, which I mention in each individual review.
The filter for this list is different from the filter for a review. A review asks whether a thing works. This asks whether I kept using it once the novelty wore off and nobody was watching. Plenty of things I reviewed positively didn’t make it. They work fine. I just don’t reach for them.
The Eight I Keep Using
Best for a cluttered desk: LUKETURE Clamp-On Desk Organizer
I own two of these on one desk, which is the strongest thing I can say about any product on this list. I didn’t plan it. I put the first one on, watched the pile next to my keyboard disappear into it, and then said yes to a second for the other side.
It clamps to the desk edge instead of sitting on the surface, so it gives you storage without giving up work space. Powder-coated steel, 22 lb weight capacity, and it fits desk edges from 0.3 to 2.8 inches thick. It comes in a 1-tier and a 2-tier version, and it holds a laptop up to about 15 inches.
What bugged me: it only works on flat-edge desks. Curved or waterfall edges are a hard no, and you need at least 1.9 inches of overhang for the clamp clips to seat right. Measure before you order.
Get it if your desk surface disappears under stuff by Wednesday. Skip it if your desk has a rounded or waterfall edge. Full details in my LUKETURE desk organizer review.
Best for iMac port access: PULWTOP iMac Shelf Hub
The iMac puts its ports on the back, which is fine until you use an SD card every week. I was reaching blind behind the screen constantly. This mounts under the stand and brings the ports to the front, where hands are.
It runs USB-C 3.2 Gen2 and USB-A 3.2 Gen2 at up to 10Gbps, plus SD and TF card slots. Plug and play, no drivers. It ships with two hook sizes, one for the 24-inch iMac and a larger one, and it’s built for tilt-only stands.
What bugged me: it’s data only. No charging, no video output. If you want a second monitor out of your hub, this isn’t the one. You also need to check your stand style before ordering.
Get it if you use cards or drives often and you’re tired of reaching around the back. Skip it if you need video out or power delivery. More in my PULWTOP iMac shelf hub review.
Best for a muddy entryway: Smiry Chenille Dog Door Mat
I have three dogs. The mat by the back door is the hardest-working object in this house, and the only reason I replaced the old one was seeing the words machine washable in the listing.
It’s 30 x 20 inches with a chenille microfiber surface and a rubber non-slip backing, so it stays put instead of sliding down the hall when a dog hits it at speed. It’s quick-dry, and it comes in sizes from 24 x 16 inches up to 70 x 24 inches if you need to cover more door.
What bugged me: 30 inches feels tight for large breeds or a double-door entry. It also isn’t a complete answer to caked mud. After a heavy rain walk I’m still wiping paws.
Get it if you have dogs and a floor you’d like to keep. Skip it if you need something a big dog can fully stand on, and size up instead. Full write-up in my Smiry dog door mat review.
Best for coffee at home: SimpleTaste Milk Frother
This one turned a thing I used to leave the house for into a thing I make in my kitchen. I use it for London fogs, and it’s the appliance I touch most in the morning.
It’s a 4-in-1, so it does warm dense foam, warm airy foam, cold foam, and plain milk warming. Frothing capacity is 130 ml and warming capacity is 300 ml. The interior is non-stick, which matters more than it sounds like it should, and it shuts off automatically.
What bugged me: filling to the minimum line makes more foam than one drink needs. If you’re making a single cup, you’re pouring some out (or drinking too much yourself), and that gets old.
Get it if you make milk drinks at home more than twice a week. Skip it if you drink your coffee black. Details in my SimpleTaste milk frother review.
Best for scent without a flame: HAIDOLIANG Candle Warmer Lamp
I have a candle collection and three dogs, and those two facts don’t get along. A warmer lamp melts the candle from above with a bulb, so you get the scent with nothing lit.
It uses a 50W GU10 halogen bulb and includes two. There’s a stepless dimmer with 4 brightness levels and an auto-off timer set to 2, 4, or 8 hours. The pole height adjusts for different jar sizes, and the base is wood with an anti-slip pad.
What bugged me: the scent throw is softer than a lit candle. It fills my living room and kitchen, but I have a small house, and how far it carries depends on how strongly scented your candle is. The cord is also on the short side.
Get it if open flames are a problem in your house, whether that’s pets, kids, or a lease. Skip it if you want a strong scent across a big open floor plan. More in my HAIDOLIANG candle warmer lamp review.
Best for the garage gym: Ivation Oversized LED Clock
We still use this in the garage gym, which is the whole reason it’s on the list. The point of a clock out there is reading it from across the room mid-set without squinting.
The display is 24 inches wide with 3.25 inch digits and 6 brightness levels you can change by remote. It also does date, indoor temperature, a stopwatch, and a countdown timer, and it runs on an AC adapter with a 10-foot cord and a battery backup for the settings.
What bugged me: it needs AC power to run the display, so where you put it depends on where your outlet is. Setup takes a few minutes with the manual the first time.
Get it for a garage, gym, or any room where you’re reading the time from a distance. Skip it if you want something cordless. Full review of the Ivation oversized LED clock.
Best for the couch: Much Comfort Cinnamon Bun Pillow
I expected this to be a novelty item I’d photograph once. It’s on my bed and I use it constantly, which I didn’t see coming.
The large is 26 inches wide by 29 inches long and 8 inches thick, so it works as a real back or lap pillow instead of decoration. It has an adjustable fill zipper, and there’s a 22-inch medium if the large is too much couch.
What bugged me: hand wash only, which is inconvenient for something you use daily. The 3D effect is more subtle in person than in the listing photos, and it takes at least a day to re-fluff after washing.
Get it if you want a couch pillow you’ll use rather than arrange. Skip it if hand washing is a dealbreaker. More in my Much Comfort cinnamon bun pillow review.
Best for the yard: Fuligent Solar Post Cap Lights
These go on fence posts and come on by themselves at dusk. No wiring, no switch, nothing to remember. We like them, and they’re the reason the back of the house looks cool after dark.
They fit 5 x 3.5 inch wooden posts and 4 x 4 inch vinyl posts. There’s a steady warm white mode and a flickering flame effect. They need 6 to 8 hours of direct sun to charge and run 8 to 11 hours per charge on a 1000mAh NiMH rechargeable AA.
What bugged me (only a little): the brightness is decorative. These won’t light a path or a step, and runtime drops during cloudy stretches and low-sun winter months. Posts sitting in shade won’t charge well.
Get them if you want your fence to look good at night. Skip them if you need actual light to walk by. Details in my Fuligent solar post cap lights review.
What Wouldn’t I Buy Again?
The EverFoams open toe slippers are fine. They’re soft, the cushion is good underfoot, and the open toe is nice in warm weather. Nothing is wrong with them.
I just learned something about myself from wearing them, which is that I like closed toe slippers. My feet get cold. An open toe slipper solves a problem I don’t have and creates one I do. I still have them and I still wear them sometimes, but I wouldn’t buy them again. I did like them at first, but just moving forward, I would buy closed-toe.
The beige also reads duller in person than it does in the listing photos. If you run warm and you want airflow, these are a reasonable pick. If your feet are cold like mine, get something covered. Here’s my full EverFoams slippers review.

How do you decide what makes a list like this?
Repeat use, nothing else. Every product here has its own review on this site where I go through how it performed. This list is narrower. It’s the ones I picked up again on an ordinary week when I wasn’t testing anything or filming anything.
Did you buy these or were they sent to you?
Both. Most arrived through the Amazon Influencer program and some I bought myself. Each individual review says which, in the section where I explain how I tested it.
Why is there only one product you’d skip?
Because there’s only one I wouldn’t buy again as of right now. Every pick above has a “what bugged me” line pulled from my own review, so the flaws are all here. Padding the skip section with things I actually like would make the list less useful, not more honest.
Do any of these need special setup?
Three have a fit requirement to check first. The desk organizer needs a flat desk edge with 1.9 inches of overhang. The iMac hub is built for tilt-only stands. The post cap lights fit 5 x 3.5 inch wood posts and 4 x 4 inch vinyl posts. Measure before ordering any of those three.
What didn’t make the list?
Plenty of things I reviewed well. A product can do exactly what it promises and still not become part of your week. Those reviews are all still on the site and still accurate. They just aren’t changing my life on a weekly basis.
