I bought this SONGMICS wire shelf because I’m trying to do way too many things in one office, including my reselling. I needed storage that goes tall, not wide. That was the whole point.
So far, it’s doing exactly what I bought it for.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you’ve got wall height to spare and not much else
- Skip it if: you need deep, roomy shelves for big bins
- My favorite feature: it builds up instead of out
- Would I buy again? Yes. I might even end up with more of them.
Going up instead of out
It stands 70.9 inches tall on a footprint of about 23 by 13 inches. I’m 5’2″, and it’s way taller than me, which is what I wanted.
The shelves adjust, so I left a bigger gap near the top for taller things. You could set them evenly instead.

Who is this wire shelf for?
Anyone tight on floor space, like a small office, a laundry room or a pantry corner. If you resell, it’s a handy spot for stock waiting to ship.
In my office, it works alongside the Pak LED shop lights that turned the room into a photo studio and the LUKETURE clamp-on desk organizer for the small stuff.
Is the SONGMICS shelf hard to put together?
No. I put it together by myself, and it didn’t take long. The whole frame lifted out of the box in one piece, like a cage, which was pretty cool.
I think I did something slightly off near the top, but nothing heavy goes up there, so it doesn’t matter.
Now it holds my packing supplies and most of what I have listed for resale.

The extras in the box
- Liners: they give each shelf a flat surface so nothing gets snagged or marked by the wires, and they’re easy to take off.
- S-hooks: you get eight, and they hang anywhere on the frame, front, side or top.

What else I liked
- It’s really sturdy once it’s together
- The parts are numbered, so building it is a follow-along job
Two things to know before you order
- Plan to level it. Mine needed the adjustable feet turned before it sat right.
- The shelves are narrow, about 23 inches wide and 13 deep, so bigger bins won’t sit side by side.
SONGMICS 7 tier shelf questions
How much weight can the SONGMICS 7 tier shelf hold?
Up to 1,750 pounds across the whole unit, and 250 pounds per shelf, according to SONGMICS.
Can the SONGMICS shelf be split into two?
Yes. It comes apart into two shorter units, each with its own share of the tiers, so you can use them in different rooms.
Can I anchor the SONGMICS shelf to a wall?
Yes, and SONGMICS tells you to. The listing says to keep it against a wall with the anti-tip kit installed, and the kit comes in the box.
Do you need tools to assemble the SONGMICS shelf?
No. It’s tool-free, and the parts are numbered. I built it by myself.
Other wire shelves to compare

|---|---|---|---|
| SONGMICS 7 Tier | 7 | 13.4 x 23.2 x 70.9 in | 250 lb |
| Amazon Basics 5-Shelf, 60 in | 5 | 13.4 x 23.2 x 60 in | 200 lb |
| Amazon Basics 5-Shelf, 72 in | 5 | 14 x 36 x 72 in | 350 lb |
- Amazon Basics 5-Shelf Unit, 13.4 x 23.2 x 60 Inches: the same footprint, but 60 inches tall with five shelves, for a spot where 70.9 inches is too much.
- Amazon Basics 5-Shelf Unit, 36 x 14 x 72 Inches: 36 inches wide with 350 pounds per shelf, if you have the floor space to go wider.
Should you get the SONGMICS shelf?
Yes, if you’ve run out of places to spread out, it’s a solid pick. If you’d rather go wide than tall, the 36 inch Amazon Basics unit in the table above is the one to look at.
