Good Molecules Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel is a low-foam jelly cleanser that rinses off completely and leaves skin soft, with no residue left on your face. It’s been my once-a-day face wash for months now. It’s a reliable daily wash rather than a standout, and I keep reaching for it.
Good Molecules sent me this one to try. My first take was: nice orange tube, jelly texture, no big deal. Then I rinsed it off, my skin felt soft and smooth with nothing left behind, and I’ve been using it since.
Quick Verdict
- Buy it if: you want a gentle once-a-day face wash that rinses clean and doesn’t leave a film
- Skip it if: you like a big, thick lather. This one lathers lightly and stops there
- My favorite feature: The rinse. Nothing left on my skin, and my face feels soft after
- Would I buy again? Yes, as a daily basic

The box tells you exactly when and where it goes
Good Molecules prints AM and PM right on the box, and next to that a How to Layer list: this cleansing gel first, then tone, treat, moisturize, SPF. I didn’t have to look anything up or guess where it fits in a routine. It’s the smartest part of the packaging.
It also has the bunny on it. Cruelty-free is a real thing for me, and I like seeing it on the box instead of digging for it on a website.

Who is the Good Molecules cleansing gel for?
Anyone who wants a gentle everyday face wash and doesn’t need it to do anything dramatic. It fits a simple routine: this first, then a toner like the JiYu toning pads I tested, then a moisturizer such as the JiYu NAD+ cream that absorbs like a lotion. That’s the same order the box lays out, minus the SPF you’d add in the morning.
If you want a cleanser that feels like an event, with a thick lather and a scent you can name, look elsewhere. This one keeps things plain.
What it feels like to use, months in
It comes out of the tube as a clear jelly. It feels soothing going on and spreads without any drag. Work it in with a little water and it loosens up and does its job.
I use it once a day. Months in, my skin feels soft and smooth after every wash, and I don’t think about it anymore, which is the best thing I can say about a daily cleanser.
Three small things I noticed
- Fresh, not perfumed: It smells fresh, but it doesn’t smell scented. I can’t put a name to it. I like it.
- Ingredient percentages on the box: The side panel lists every ingredient with its percentage, water at the top, all the way down to the pineapple extract in parts per million.
- Bright orange tube: Easy to spot on a crowded counter, and no pump to deal with.
What I liked
- Feels good going on and my skin feels good after.
- It cleans, it rinses, and that’s the whole job.
Two heads-ups before you buy
- It doesn’t get very foamy. It foams a little, then stops. If you judge a cleanser by the lather, you’ll be underwhelmed.
- Treat it as a daily basic. It cleans my face and that’s all I’ve seen it do. If you’re after brightening or breakout results, this isn’t where I’d look.
Questions people ask about this cleanser
How much does Good Molecules Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel lather?
A little. It lathers lightly once you work it in with water and never builds into anything thick. It still rinses off completely.
Can you use Good Molecules cleansing gel morning and night?
Yes. AM and PM are printed right on the box, and the brand says to massage it onto damp skin, rinse, and follow with toner and moisturizer. Mine gets used once a day, and months in that’s been fine.
Does Good Molecules cleansing gel remove makeup?
Amazon lists it as removing dirt, oil, and makeup, and suggests a cleansing balm or oil first if you want a deeper clean. That’s the brand’s claim, not mine.
Is Good Molecules Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel fragrance-free?
It doesn’t smell scented to me, just fresh. If fragrance matters to you, the box prints the full ingredient list with percentages, so you can read it before you buy.
Other gentle cleansers to compare it with
- CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser: A non-foaming cream cleanser with a lotion-like consistency, built around hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and glycerin, in a 16 oz pump. If the Good Molecules gel’s light lather is still more foam than you want, this one has none at all.
- Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser: An 8 oz pH-balanced wash made for sensitive skin, free of fragrance, dyes, botanical extracts, and essential oils. The Good Molecules gel has rosewater and pineapple extract in it, so if botanicals are a trigger for you, this is the plainer choice.
- COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser: A 5.07 oz low-pH gel with tea tree oil and BHA. It’s the closest match in texture, with actives added for breakout-prone skin that the Good Molecules gel doesn’t have.

Fine, not special, and I keep using it anyway
This was sent to me, and it’s still on my counter months later. It’s fine rather than special. Nothing about it made me stop and call everybody, and nothing about it gave me a reason to switch.
Good Molecules Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel is one of my go-to daily cleansers now. If you need a gentle wash that does its job without any fuss, this is a safe buy.
